McAllen Holiday Parade

One of the biggest events in South Texas and the largest illuminated holiday and helium balloon parade in Texas, the McAllen Holiday Parade has attracted over 250,000 residents and visitors from all over the nation. With over 50 vibrantly lighted floats, 36 enormous inflatable character balloons, a celebrity guest lineup and so many more surprises, the McAllen Holiday Parade brings everyone out to the Rio Grande Valley for the holidays!

This year’s McAllen Holiday Parade includes Dallas Cowboy team members Cole Beasley, Darius Jackson and Grand Marshal Ezekiel Elliott. But that’s not all; you can also expect appearances by entertainment TV host reporter Jessica Carrillo, Puerto Rican actor Carlos Ponce and so many more! Hidalgo Festival of Lights

A longstanding tradition in South Texas is the Hidalgo Festival of Lights. Every December in Hidalgo, more than 3,000,000 bulbs light up in the largest, award-winning Christmas light display in South Texas. During the month, visitors can travel through numerous trails featuring festive displays starting at City Hall Plaza. With each year, the Hidalgo Festival of Lights has also combined a fun theme that intrigues visitors and residents alike. This year’s theme is Superheroes! From Batman to Wonder Woman and including real life heroes such as our firefighters, police officers and military, they’ll all be there!

This year’s Festival of Lights is sure to be fun for everyone with more events like snow days, ice-skating and the Christmas Posada. Holiday Village at Dean Porter Park

Magically transport to the North Pole as you stroll through the Holiday Village in Brownsville. Founded in 2010, this magical display brings in thousands of visitors each holiday season. It showcases over 25 various cottages designed by local architects and constructed and decorated by individual sponsors and volunteers. On Saturday and Sunday, the village is immersed with musical entertainment by local choirs, bands, mariachis and dance groups. Plus, you can even have your picture taken with Santa!

With the announcement of the new McAllen Performing Arts Center opening, McAllen is bringing Broadway plays, musicals and concerts to start off your holiday season right! Some of the exciting lineups include Annie, Elf: The Musical, Tony Bennett and so much more! Perfect to get you in the mood for the season, McAllen’s new Performing Arts Center has brought a new era in entertainment that has already attracted local and international visitors alike.
