With over nine million firms owned by women employing nearly eight million people and generating $1.5 trillion as of 2015, women are a vital component in building a healthy economy. In the Rio Grande Valley, the Women’s Business Center of Cameron County (WBCCC) has made it its mission to increase the number of successful women-owned small businesses with resources, seminars and training.
One popular effort is the WBCCC’s Women Entrepreneurs’ Small Business Boot Camp that will involve:
- June 21st – Gallup Inc. Entrepreneurial Talents
- June 29th – Business Planning
- July 13th – Human Resources
- July 20th – Marketing and Social Media
- July 26th – Financing and Contracting
- August 3rd – Resources, Leadership Strategies and Graduation
On each day, the event will begin at 9:30 AM and end at 12:30 PM.
With a unique and new alliance with Rio Grande Valley Partnership, the boot camp will expand to the upper Valley at RGV Partnership’s Weslaco location at 322 S. Missouri Ave., making it even easier for women from the region to take advantage of this great opportunity!

Creating a Path for Women in Small Business
The WBCCC is partially funded by the United States Small Business Administration’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership. In collaboration with the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, the WBCCC hosts a number of events including:
- The Women’s Business Expo
- The Women in Leadership Breakfast
- Online Learning Opportunities
- Business Seminars
The WBCCC also works with SBA, Southmost College, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Express Employment Professionals and the UTRGV Small Business Development Center to bring more resources and information to the Women Entrepreneurs’ Small Business Boot Camp. Together, they are empowering small businesses in the Valley by creating a stronger local economy.
Rio Grande Valley Partnership
Created in 1944, RGV Partnership fosters relationships across four counties and coordinates programs that advance regional economic development. RGV Partnership serves as a Chamber of Commerce for the entire Rio Grande Valley. Unlike many local chambers and economic development councils, RGV Partnership does not receive any public funds for its operational expenses.
